I think the staff are overwhelmed with the amount of patients coming in. Their job is made very difficult when there isn’t enough staff to go round. The hospital just isn’t big enough to take the vast amount of people there are living within the boroughs it serves.
Overall this didn’t make it a great experience. Definitely not one I would like to repeat.
I was brought in via private ambulance from an event and was seen & xrayed promptly. However then once my results showed no break, I was moved from department to department, ending up with a seat and no way to elevate my injury. I had to lie on the floor to stop feeling nausea, I was given no Ice and when I needed pain relief I had to ask 4 times repeatedly.
I was told by day shift nurses 3 times that I had 3 people infront of me in the queue, then 4 hours later I was told I’m next to be seen.
The night duty head nurse then arrived and changed the method in which people were being seen, and then I was told there are 5 people in front of me after having already waiting 9 hours in that one department. I had already been in the hospital for 2 hours prior in different department.
Everything was well organized and executed well but thanks to God that my emergency was not that urgent
I was referred to Queen’s Hospital Emegency by my GP as there were abnormalities in my ECG. I had Heart attacks on the past and had pace maker and stents implanted. I recently had stroke and now I am wheelchair bound. Visually impaired and have other complexities and ailments .
Queens Hospital staff after initial assessment asked me two wait without giving any information how long??
My son asked the staff on the reception few times how long was the wait which they refused to answer. My son also explained that it was difficult and inconvenient for me to sit in the wheelchair for so long. But no consideration was given to my physical condition.
Caring and compassionate staff and handled my case very carefully
Received bad care by young nurses to be moved onto another b d after they caused me so much discomfort.
I was sat in the waiting area for 8 hours waiting for a doctor to see me for my cyst which would then have to be seen by the surgical team but the initial stage of the doctor seeing me was not completed. I asked the Asian woman in reception during the 8 hours how much longer for me to get seen initially for the doctor but every time she would ask for my name and say I’m next so 30 mins. 8 hours went by and this was a constant cycle of me asking and her saying 30 mins. Next, another staff had taken over in reception and I asked the same question but this time she asked for my name and she said I am not even on the list! I would have to re-register from the start. This is ridiculous and I left after waiting for 8 hours. It was completely a lie when the first woman at reception asked me for my name and told me the time I had to wait as I wasn’t on the list so she completely made it up!
Very helpful and gave me more info about what would happen next
I have had many admission s unfortunately this was one of the more pleasurable no one was in a panic.
There was enough staff to cope with the amount of patients and No one was yelling the odds throwing their weight about mucking things up
Doctor told me Could be bleed in my brain and they send me for CT Scan I was waiting to see someone since 9pm to 3.35am in the morning with my stress. I was thinking I am having bleed in my brain and they left me there to wait . All was taken almost 12 hours wait. It was really bad experience I never seen like this communication and un professional people. I am the one if the NHS worker as well. No one can understand my stress in that waiting hours almost 6-7 hours after CT Scan.
